Introducing Myself

I am SOOOOOOOOO glad to have found this website. My name is Pat Porter. I'm not a dialysis patient, but my father is. He just started.
I've learned a lot from this website. And I can tell ya, if I had the knowledge of how to do it, one thing I'd do is, I'd invent a blanket for dialysis patients that could be thrown in a microwave and would keep you warm for hours. And I'm talking a full-length blanket or a throw. It's bad enough to have to sit there for 3-4 hours, but to be freezing on top of it? That's just freakin' cruel. And I'm picking on that particular issue because that seems to be a big thing with my dad.
My heart goes out to everybody on dialysis. I know y'all don't want sympathy, but I can't help it. Sorry. I had no idea how "not so fun" dialysis (and kidney disease in general) could be. Hope I haven't totally depressed everybody

Hi PMP and welcome to our site. Best of luck to your Dad. At least you realize that dialysis is no walk in the park.
I have a wool Pendleton blanket for dialysis. Wool keeps you warm and also cool if you get hot. I love it. Here is a link. I bought mine one time while I was at the Pendleton Round-Up, so I got it pretty cheap. I wash it and dry it and it turns out fine. I have a queen size and I fold it in half and put in over me.

I am always very pleased when the loved ones of renal patients post here. It is a tremendous testimony to the love they have. So I welcome you to our site. I know that it will be a real help to you. Please feel free to ask your questions, and also from time to time, put in your own spin on things. This is a sharing and caring community and we are glad to welcome to it.

Welcome, PMP, glad to have you here. Sounds like your Dad is lucky to have you, you must be a great support for him, I know I couldn't make it through this without my sister, she's given me the strength to make it.
Looking forward to your posts!

I know I've already posted with you on the main board, but I did want to officially welcome you. It's always nice to get another caregiver/spouse/relative here on the board.
