Hi,
I am Annette and i started hemo dialysis in March.  i have had kidney problems for years.  Never thought they would fail completely! Not me, couldn't be!  I just returned to work full time and I hate all the questions about my problems!!!!!!!!! I REALLY HATE THE LIST QUESTION. I hate that everything I put in my mouth, some concerned person says, "should you be eating that?" with their concerned head tilted to the side. Concerned people keep leaving my bottles of water on desk!~ My life has changed and there is so much to get used too! I like this site, so many kindred souls!!!!!!!!!!

A large welcome hug to you, Annette!  We are happy to have you here with us.  This is a good place to find out lots of things, especially from the point of view of the patient - people who have been through what you are going through. Be sure to read especially the General Discussion section and the FAQs Frequently Asked Questions.  You might even ask some questions of your own.  There is so much going on in this site, you might find yourself spending quite a lot of time here. You bet there are lots of kindred souls here!  So welcome again.  Expect to hear very much from you.

I would be tempted to throw the water bottle sback at the person who left them there.  ;D  The people at work are well meaning, but if one more asks me if I should be eating something with that tilt to the head...I am going to stuff whatever I am eating in their face and yell "I can eat what I want to eat! Are you my mother?"  Then I will leave the luncha rea quietly. Luckily I only get this from a few people.

Welcome! Ya I hate when people say "should you be eating that" like I didn't think about that with every single thing before I even think about putting it in my mouth!!  >:( Like last weekend at my uncle's someone says, "Do you want salt? Oh wait! You can't have salt.." and takes away the salt shaker before I can even nod about putting any on my cob of corn! lol

Glad you are here :) I just started Hemo myself last year.

i understand about the questions. i was out at a bar and most of my friends where back from university and they somehow found out what was going on with me so every single person wanted to know, which is fine i'm very gratefull for thier concern and i couldn't ask for better friends but after a couple of hours explaining to people it kind of brings me down. plus it's very selfish to talk about it all night

Yup, love that head tilt . ..  :P  I've been diabetic for almost 23 years.  My standard answer when I'm eating something sugary and fattening is "No, but neither should you."  It's especially annoying considering that I've probably put more thought and effort into carbo counting, calorie adjustment for the rest of the day, and calculating the insulin bolus I'll need to keep my sugar stable while I'm indulging myself than they've ever considered for anything they've put in their mouth in their entire lives.

&**&^%^$ Diet police!

Enjoy the site, Annette - I've only been on here for a short while, and the info has been invaluable!
