I've noticed for a long time that when I'm really anemic, I feel sick and worn out - which is obvious when your anemic - but when I get my epo shots, I feel like a whole new person!

Do you think its the anemia that is making me sick and not the fact that my kidney function is low?  Last year when I was almost ready to start dialysis, I got intravenous iron treatments.  After I received the iron, I felt like I do could anything and I wasn't feeling sick anymore.........needless to say I changed my mind about dialysis at that point!  It seems odd to me that when my hemoglobin is low that's when I start to feel sick.

Yes you do feel like that when your Hemoglobin is low and iron & epo will give you a lift but dont fool yourself that this is all thats wrong ! Plenty of other things will make you feel tired , worn out . I think you know what your body is telling you , but you seem to be clutching at straws again . :(

Anemia and kidney failure go hand in hand Goofy. Yes, the tiredness and the "perk up" with epo is due to Anemia lowering your hemoglobin too low. THAT is caused by your kidneys not working properly. So while having epo shots will help treat the symptom, the cause is still there.

Like KS says - you're really grasping at straws here. Your kidneys are at end stage renal failure. You have a eGFR of 6 (you yourself told us this). You have two options now.... (well three, but the third will soon disappear).
