Please pray about my toe if you pray.
It is infected. The big toe on the right foot.
Been to dr. thurs-fri., go back mon.
got 2 anti. shots and am on 3 antibiotics.
Just went back to work and am now off because of toe.
Supposed to keep it propped up.
When my hand was broken I was afraid to cut my toenails with my
left hand so I went and had them cut at a podiatrist and she cut them
back way too far.  I told her that was too much and she said "that's
the way they should be" and I was worried then and now sure enough
it is infected.
I just need it to get better, sure don't want to lose a toe.
The pain has lessened this eve. so hopefully the anti. are kicking in.
Thanks.

Hey,

I had exactly the same thing happen with my toe when I went to a nail spa.  It became very inflamed and very infected.  When I first got the infection I thought it was Gout because it was so painful.  It took a few rounds of antibiotics to get it right but it is fine now. That was about six weeks ago.  Just keep it up.  If it is feeling better today it will probably be right and ready for a shoe in another couple of days.

:o I am so sorry this has happened to you!

Have you let the podiatrist know this happened?  If not, then you should.  It won't help you but it may stop this from happening to someone else.

Has anyone recommended anything topical in addition to the systemic antibiotics??  My B-I-L has used several different things depending on what showed on the culture -- some were added to foot soaking solutions, some were powdered and sprinkled on after the soaks, and some were liquid sprayed on after his foot was dry.  His docs and we believe the topicals were very helpful in the infections where his blood supply was minimal.

You, and especially your toe, will be in my prayers.   :cuddle;

Poor Buckeye!  Joe had an infected toe several months ago and I remember what a pain in the ass it was!  I hope it heals quickly for you.

went to dr. again today.
He said he thinks it is very slowly improving.
got another shot. more anti.   got to go back weds.
wants me to see a surgeon thurs.
said not to cut off my toe but thinks he could help. ??????????  that scares me.
hoping by weds. it will look so much better that he will change his mind about that.
maybe he thinks my toenail needs to be removed.
using an ointment on it like neosporin and the cream I use for pd catheter access.
it is hard having this going on at Christmas as I need to be out shopping and have
so much to do yet.  said I won't be going back to work quickly and standing it on for hours.
I'll prob. get canned.  golly gee.
thanks for all good wishes and it is good to hear that some of you have had this and are ok.

are you diabetic? I know for diabetics on dialysis that ANY foot infection is a very serious matter. I do hope that everyone keeps very close eye on it. Keep checking for any black spots. Even the tiniest one. Because if there is, that that is bad. Hopefully it won't come to that. I hope that it gets better. I would suggest not going to that podiatrist anymore. They don't realize that your feet have to be taken care of more than they are used to. My prayers are with you!  :cuddle;

thanks for asking.
went to surgeon dr. today and he thinks the toenail should
be taken off.  going to do that next wk. I think.
soaking it, taking antibiotics and keeping ointment on it.
this has been a real pain with Christmas and all to do.
