Muscle Twitching & Tingle In Fingers Getting Bad

I'm having problems with muscle twitching and my hands keep tingling and it's almost like I can't control them.  Even as I type my fingers keep jumping over to others letters.  It even happens sometimes when I'm driving. My hands jump off the steering wheel.

I've this for awhile but but today its really bad.  I'm not sure if its related to the kidney disease or if its neurological?

It's both.

Due to your kidney failure you are experiencing the beginnings of peripheral neuropathy.

Have you heard people mention Restless Leg Syndrome ? Well you can get it all over your body , not just legs and it sounds like that . Jerky uncontrolable movements ? Sadly its part of kidney failure , i think you know more and more each day your body is now telling you that the time is close to start. How do you feel now about starting ? Any closer to making that choice ?

omg, omg, me too, wow you are the first person to have that same feeling. i get it all the time, when i am trying to exercise, walking, whatever. I just dont have the tingling yet. All the other sites i have posted this they think i have restless let syndrome, andi know i dont have that because i had restless leg syndrome when i was pregnant with my daughter.

I would suggest you call your Dr.and tell him the symptoms you are experiencing. To me your body is telling you the kidneys just can't keep up anymore and it's time to consider dialysis.

Please don't put your body through all that stress. You have to consider what damage could happen while you deciding when to start.

You would be surprised at the array of symptoms kidney failure can cause... that's why it's important to take care of it as best you can before damage occurs that can't be easily fixed or fixed at all

I used to have tingling in my hands, especially when I drove, before I was on dialysis when my PTH and phosphorus were high. Taking calcitriol took care of it. I've also had tingling in my hands sometimes when me potassium was high.

Completely separate from that, I had "whole-body" twitching - more like a sudden jump or flinch - when my blood pressure was out of control. It was triggered by an unexpected touch, or a flash of light, or just randomly sometimes.

For me, restless leg syndrome is different. RLS makes my legs feel "impatient", like I NEED to move them. The kind of jerks I had were different, completely spontaneous and without any kind of urge to make them.

I get tingling in my hands when I am on the machine, and I get RLS at night...good luck!

  Oh  Gee   I had that too before I started.....   I wasnt sure if it was related to CKD  or maybe I was coming down with the beginning of Parkinsons.... I didnt tell anyone....  only happened with my fingers mostly my thumb......   Now that I see that others have had the same problem  I am now not as worried..... I was sweating another problem.......

It's kidney disease related.Tell your nephrologist.
I've had it too,sometimes worse that others. As your kidney function decreases it's harder to control.
There has been much discussion on this site regarding neuropathy, peripheral neuropathy, twitching, etc. Check the "search" application to see what other's have said about it.

Call you doctor. It sounds like your levels might need checked. I have muscle twitching too. I wasn't expecting this again post transplant. My phosporous is low, calcium normal. My PTH is high.

Thanks for the replies.  I'm glad I shared that.  Now others that have it don't think its only them! 

I e-mailed my doc and it is a sign that dialysis is near.  He really didn't say much more.  He's really upset with me because I won't start dialysis.  I think he's gotten to the point where he thinks he's wasting his time on me.

I'll get there but I have to do it when I'm ready.  I know someone is going to say that you'll never be ready.  But I'm almost there.

Now for the last few days, the twitching was really bad but now today, Its hardly there.  Just when I'm ready to say I'll start, my symptoms go away.

I know what I'm doing is not the right thing, but I have to be ready in my own mind.  I know myself too well!

The longer you wait, the more likely your neurological problems will become permanent and not reversable by dialysis.
