Music Players!

Yeah just wanted to know how y'all listen to music you more old skool like 8tracks and records or more new like mp3 players or Cd's

and what equipment do u use?



I use my PC ripped all my music to it about 20000 songs and when I'm on the go my iPod is my best friend^^

I would have to agree that my Ipod is my best friend.  I love that I cannot "scratch" my CD.  Or have to rewind with a tape.  Plus I can make different playlists depending on my mood.  I have convinced friends to buy Ipods... I should work for Apple.

I mainly listen to music on my CD player in my truck.  Don't have a lot of time for music otherwise.  I did get an MP3 player for Christmas (not an iPod, though  ) but I've never used it.

Yeah I miss those times before I was 18 I went to a Teenie dialysis center and we would listen to our music with a boom box and it was a blast we would talk about everything just a lot of fun now I sit in room with double as many people sit there alone and listen with headphones man I miss the good old times

I use a MP-3 player myself.  No more wasting money on cd's to get the one or two songs I want to hear.

I have XM Satellite Radio, but am getting tired of it because they are now using commercials.  That was the draw to me...no commercials.

CD player in the car. But I onlyhave about seven cds in the car right now.  Ruined my Alabama greatest hits CD twice in the car.  Got to buy anew one.  Now I have the yahoomessenger set to play when it is up. I have quite a country collection of CDs just have to move them to the car to listen tot hem. I forget I have a CD player in the den.  I have a small collection of LPs and need a record player to play them. I am going to buy one of those nostalgia record players to play my LPs. I love to listen to music on old records!

Really?? Jeff (Sandman) came to my city in a rental that had XM radio and that was the whole excitement that it had no commercials! Why would anyone want it if there ARE commercials?

XM only has commercials on their turnaround channels like CNN.  On their own music channels there are no commercials.  I've had it in the car since last fall and just love it.  Just music or whatever without the distractions.

I listen to mostly CD's and the radio, but that's because my car isn't equipped with a turntable or 8 track.  I have both at home and do listen to them as well.

Not only no commercials but over 240 channels of listening pleasure.   AND, it's crystal clear audio no matter where you are.  It was so nice to be able to drive 1800+ miles and not need to search for a station.    I love XM radio and my next vehicle WILL have it.

Actually Jeff, I went through ALL those stations while you were over with that rental and some stations DO have commercials like he said. But a lot of those were news stations anyway and all. I was still very impressed! Especially that you could drive all the way from PA USA to ON CANADA and not have to change the station once!!

Well, I didn't listen to any news stations so I didn't notice those commercials.  But even the stations I was listening to had rare but brief advertisements but they were only for the station you was listening to so you can submit requests.

I use an IPOD Nano at the moment.  I had a 1GB Vizo as well but the screen cracked and leaked so that was that.  Electronic gear is soooo expensive over here.  I paid £130 for my 2GB Nano and that is a lot!  I do like my IPOD but it claims to have 14hrs battery life and I`ve found it`s only about 7 unless I`m doing something wrong???

yeah you're not doing anything wrong it is how they test it.

They use 1 song with a very bad bitrate, they turn off pretty much everything like the baclkight for the screen the click sound and any extra bass.

I have an Ipod also.  It was a birthday present last april.  The only prob is. I used my moms comp to start downloading songs.  I can download songs on my comp but cant upload them onto my ipod.  If I download songs on my comp I have to burn them onto a disc.  Then upload it onto my moms comp.  I don't get to do that very often.  My mom is in Nebraska and I'm in Kansas. Not going to drive 4 1/2 hrs just to update my ipod.      Other then that...I love my ipod.  Also have a cd player in my car.  But I'm always forgetting to take my cd's with me.     I would like to have satelite radio, just cant afford it.

My hubby is a music fanatic, he has soooo many cd's,  i love when he makes me special cd's like of all my favorite 80's music, love songs, and songs that are just freak nasty (oops, got a little carried away there)    i listen them to mainly in the car and on my cd player i have mounted under my kitchen cabinet...   But when i was incenter i used an ipod (awesome invention)

I use an Ipod.  I had a Ipod mini, but it filled up too quickly.  I have a 30 gb now.  I have a speaker unit in my office at work and one in my bathroom so I have tunes when I'm getting ready.
Music is a big stress reliever for me.

To Goofy:  I love that your hubby makes you CD's.  So sweet!!

Has anyone tried to make music CD's on their computers?  I have found that Windows Media Player 9 or higher can record music CD's that will play in ANY music CD playing device.  Even in automotive CD players/changers.   

I can't say the same about NERO or EZ CD Creator.

The only problem with WMP is that if you have an album you just want to copy, you have to put on the computer first then burn it.  Also if you have an album like... Pink Floyd's The Wall that is one continuous album it won't burn that way.  You get that 3 sec. gap in between each song instead of one long flowing album.  Unless there are some settings I have missed to solve both those problems, I'm sure there has to be something better.  My new computer uses a Sonic program that I'm not overly thrilled with either.  I'll have to look to see what it was mt old computer used.  I liked that program.

Yup, you may have overlooked some settings as WMP does allow you to set the time space between songs.

I have a little portable CD player that also plays CD's burned in MP3 format.  You can fit nearly 200 songs on one CD.  Now I have the choice of listening to the entire, original CD album, or burning only my favorite songs to the computer and putting tremendous amounts of them on one CD.  I love it for when I'm doing iron transfusions - I only have to take a single Cd and I've got enough music to last the entire 9 hours.
