Every since I started dialysis I have trouble sleeping.  Restless leg syndrome to the power of ten all over.  Tried over the counter stuff first, then sleeping pills (two most popular brands).  Nothing really worked.  Finally two .25 Xanax hour before bedtime and I am sleeping.  Amazing how much difference 8 hours of sleep make.  So much more energy I feel like a man with kidneys.

Yes i and one or two others have been through a bout of insomnia , myself i went 5 days or should i say nights without much sleep (about an hour a night) I have taken sleeping tablets for a long time though. However the past few nights i have been sleeping for around 11 hrs and i know exactly what you mean about how different you feel.

oh man, I am taking sleeping pills that are presecribed for me. It works sometime but the times that it doesn't work I cannot describe how the next day will affect me. its like I never fully recovered from treatment and I am lazy for the whole day.

I have changed my dialysis times to 3.00am in the morning.  I go to bed at around 12 and then wake up rearing to go at 3.00am so I do my dialysis then rather than just lying there with the same problems going through my head all the time.  Gets it out of the way and a good use for insomnia.

I have some lorazapan my internal Dr. gave me when I was having anxiety attacks, so I cut one in half and take it 20  minutes or so before bedtime, and I sleep like the dead.

I have big time trouble sleping. I am on 6 cycles of PD. At night I feel like I could jump out of my skin. It's maddening. My doc gave me KLONOPIN to help me sleep but I don't want to get addicted to that stuff.

I JUST WANT TO SLEEP!!! :stressed;

I've had insomnia since I was in my early 20s.  After a while the body simply adjusts to less sleep.  An interesting side effect is my dreaming.  Normally a person goes through a dream cycle every 90 minutes throughout the night.  Since I frequently sleep in 20-30 minutes snatches, my body (brain?) has developed the ability to start dreaming almost immediately when I fall asleep.  I've counted anywhere from 6 to 10 dreams in one night, based on the number of times I wake up.  For now I mostly use Ambien; sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
