I was sure dissappointed with the  reply from CMS's Dr. Straube regarding the Harvard letter.  Is seems to me that most agree that dialysis could be done better for a healthier  population.   I keep reading so many articles that state that if change the way we dialysis patients than we could have better results....but then I keep reading about how there is no documented evidence that changing would help anyone...   I do believe that the observations that are in question here are valid and should be used to show that there is a positive gain with longer more frequent dialysis..  Observations play a key role in many things and should not be disqualified as not enough evidence.  I realize that blood work data is important but the quality of life plays just as important role.   I am so shocked at times to keep reading these statements that there is no gain doing this and that yet everyone else , Renal doctors, nurses and patients are all saying that they are far better  doing more dialysis than the three times a week.  Even in the USA Todays article there is a statement in there saying that the dialysis three times a week is just enough to keep the patient alive.....   I think we all want to do more for ourselves than to just stay alive....    To me this is a very important issue and with the  Medicare  bundling changes that may occur may help us gain better treatment and better health, or it may keep us from doing anything different.      I hope we do move forward with better choices with more frequent dialysis and better health.    I am not sure what each of us can do to help, since this is such a big program and us little people often have our hands tied....  If anyone has any ideas on what we could or should do to help  change the mind set and policies  let us know.....
