Matching Donors Online????

I read somewhere about registering with Matching Donors Online. When I looked at it there was a very long agreement of terms that seemed to intimate that there was a fee for registering, but I could not find any direct reference to the fee.

Have any of you registered? And if so, what was the fee if any?

I am registered with Matchingdonor.com.  The fee is $595.00, payable at $100.00 per month.  you put your profile on line and then you can search for people that match.  with your profile being out there, the potential donors can search for and contact you.  I have actually ben contacted by two different people. one was not a blood match and the other, I am still talking to, she is willing to donate her kidney to me.  pray that it works.  good luck with your search.

I forgot what Okarol used where she found a donor for Jenna. Hopefully she will chime in,  but I know her story is posted on here. Think it's one of the links one her post.

I know that Karol posted with Living Donors Online. It is free. I don't know if she also listed with matching donors.

I have never used Matching Donors because each transplant hospital Jenna was listed with made it clear that they would not accept a donor from that website. I think that may policy have changed for some hospitals - but you need to be sure before you pay the fee.

But I suppose if it finds you a donor, then it is worth it.
Australian hospitals wouldn't agree to use the donors. You have to have known the donor for at least a year and have a proven friendship.

I can understand that, but how do you prove friendship?

Rob found his donor on matchingdonors.com.  This is a great place that really helps.  You can actually talk to the CEO of this company and he has loads of experience and compassion, as his dad died of kidney disease. 

THe price is steep, however, if you are unable to afford this, they can work with you.  Don't feel that this isn't an option for you, they are incredible  This price includes airfare if needed.  We have spoken to the CEO many times, he helped us with Rob's profile and finding some donors.  In the end, it was Rob's donor that contacted him.

I can't say anything bad about this place, they really are great.  You do however, have to watch out for hospitals that don't support this kind of service.  We had to switch hospitals once because the original didn't support this.  Totally sucks, but thankfully many hospitals do.
