Yesterday was a horrible day for me. I went to my diaylsis shift with a headache and it just got worse while on treatment. Eventually I began feeling nauscious and I knew my blood pressure was quickly decreasing suddenly because I was feeling clammy and anxious and I felt like my eye sight was going away. I called the nurse and she gave me saline. I felt so much better but when I was done with dialysis I felt really dizzy and sick. I got home and my headache was worse and I was still nauscious. I slept a lot. Took a tylenol with codeine but that did not even help. I tried to sleep all day but it was difficult to because yesterday was one of the most humid days in New York! It was insane. Thank the Lord that today I am all better. Just wanted to vent on what happened to me. It's the first time I get sick since I started dialysis 3 months ago.

Sounds like you had took much fluid taken off in total, or taken off too quickly.  The fluid in the blood is easy to pull off but it takes times to get at the fluid in the cells of the body.
Those post D headaches are sheer torture.

I think you are right about too much fluid being removed. The nurse was removing 1.7 although my weight was 51.9. I should not weigh less than 50.5 or so and I was going to go down to 50.2 so she changed the removal to 1.4 which my blood pressure was back to normal when she did that. I mean, I know I have not been gaining much weight lately but it's not my fault. I haven't had much of an appetite and I honestly drink up to my limit of 32 ounces a day. I actually drink less than 32 ounces a lot of the time. I am trying to maintain my weight and eat the right stuff. Well I know my weight is good for my height because I am 4'11" tall...or short. LOL.

It sure sounds like dialysis can do some may different things to people.  Thank goodness there are places like this to vent and have people really understand where you're coming from.

Glad to hear you're feeling better!  Headaches are horrid!

Sorry to hear you were sicky poo (I love that phrase).  Take care of yourself.  You're the only "you" that you've got.

i had a headache like that earlier in the week, the humidity was high over here too (Montreal) and it didnt help a bit.  anyway i feel ya.

I'm sorry you had such a bad day. Dialysis headaches are awful. Some days I walk out of the center in a daze not knowing if I'm going to keep walking or pass out. I'm wishing for better days ahead for you.

Maritza0486, do you eat or drink while at dialysis?
When i was on HD the nurse used to factor that in as well as some fluid for washback at the end of treatment.
I used to get anxious towards the end and my BP would get really elevated.
It does sound like your dry weight might be a tad low, took awhile to get mine right.
I had a lot of even runs when i started dialysis (took no fluid off).
