Hi!

My name is Mary and I am on dialysis and have been for the past 4 years.  Can't say I love it but I've learned to accept it as part of my life.....it is keeping me alive today and for that I am grateful.  I am 65 years old.  The past 8 years have been a jumble of serious health problems.  I am a lung cancer survivor, I have heart problems, thyroid problems.  My lung problems include copd, asthma and scar tissue from radiation treatment.   Having gone through all I have been through I am still pretty active.  Not everyday is prefect but most are Worth being alive for.   I do dialysis 3 days a week, 3 1/2 hours a crack.  I have met some really great people and look forward to meeting more.

Good luck all.

Welcome to our community, Mary!  We have a lot in common.  I have been on dialysis for 4 years, and have also deal with lots of other issues - breast cancer, among other things.  I also still lead a very active life.  A friend says about me that I have one foot in the grave and the other outside, tap-dancing!  This is just the place for you to be- lots of information, support and fun.  We are more than just a website - we are a genuine family  :grouphug;  caring and sharing.   All you have to do is keep reading and keep posting.

Accepting dialysis as part of your life is good.  Also looking to educate yourself on it is good.  Take time a read the boards here. Lots of nice people here!
