I go under the name of Billy bags. I am from England and I am a carer for my husband who is on CAPD. I find your site very informative and I hope you don't mind me joining you.

Mind you joining us?  Why, we're delighted you found us, sorry that you and your husband are dealing with this illness and hope you'll post often.  Actually, I can only speak for myself but I know that my fellow IHDers are a very welcoming bunch.

Pyelonephritis (began at 8 mos old)
Home haemo 1980-1985 (self-cannulated with 15 gauge sharps)
Cadaveric transplant 1985
New upper-arm fistula April 2008
Uldall-Cook catheter inserted May 2008
Haemo-dialysis, self care unit June 2008
(2 1/2 hours X 5 weekly)
Self-cannulated, 15 gauge blunts, buttonholes.
Living donor transplant (sister-in law Kathy) Feb. 2009
First failed kidney transplant removed Apr.  2009
Second trx doing great so far...all lab values in normal ranges

There are some really special caregivers here on the site.  Welcome aboard!  It takes a special person to be a caregiver! There is a special section devotes to caregivers and their concerns.  I invite you to come on over and read it and other areas of the board.

Diagnosed Nov 2007 with Multiple Myeloma.
By Jan 2008 was in end stage renal failure and on haemodialysis.
Changed to CAPD in April 2008.  Now on PD with a cycler.  Working very part time - teaching music.  Love it.  Husband is Paul (we're both 46), daughter Molly is 13.

Welcome to our community!  And a special welcome from one born under and living under the Union Jack (born in Barbados, living in the British Virgin Islands).  We have some very special members of IHD from the UK as you will find out.  This is a good place for information, support, and even fun.  As many have told you, we have quite a great group of caregivers.  This is more than just a website - it is a family  :grouphug;  All you have to do is keep reading and keep posting.  Let us know how your husband and you are doing.

2007- since January 2007 carer to my husband John who has the following, allways been a very fit man up till then.
2007 - January Renal failure
2007 - March Diagnosed with a Horseshoe kidney and bladder cancer.
2007 - June One kidney, Prostrate and Bladder removed with stage 4 cancer. Urostomy
