Happy 4th of July!

Happy 4th of July to all of you in the US! (Well, it's the 4th everywhere - but Independence Day here!)
Looks like a beautiful weekend here in California. We have our flags on the front of the house.
I am barbecuing chicken, cooking corn on the cob, BBQ beans and potato salad.
We've got watermelon too. Strawberry shortcake with blueberries and whipped cream for dessert. (Yeah, red, white and blue!)
Kids are all home but will probably go their separate ways after dinner. I will probably walk up to the Rose Bowl to watch the fireworks. They have a display inside the stadium but I just like watching the big ones overhead.

just home from a fajita dinner, but yours sounds wonderful.  I could eat corn on a cob and watermelon now.

There is a big outdoor party every year on the 3rd here.  It is my daughter's birthday, also.  They have rides and games for the kids, lots of live bands and then the North Carolina Symphany plays. After that, the fireworks.  We have gone for the past 9 years - about 20 of us.  Todd makes his famous smoked butt, I did pasta salad and potato salad, someone brought London broil, chicken, tons of different salads, fruits, veggies.  Birthday cake for Melissa and Beth baked 50(!) tarts. Lovely little pastries filled with a creamy yumminess topped with fresh fruits and glazed. She made blackberry, raspberry, strawberry, kiwi, blueberry --- they were wonderful.  Rebecca made a pitcher of Sangria---ahhhhhh!   We bring folding tables and set up a huge buffet.  One couple walked by us and said "you guys don't play around!"  He told us we made his little bag of Kentucky Fried Chicken look pathetic!  We told him to grab a plate and help himself --- there is always room for one more at our table.   The kids (8 of them) had on matching red, white and blue tie dyed shirts and were having so much fun.  It was just about as perfect as any day could be.    A good day to be an American citizen.  We also had someone with us that moved to America three years ago on July 3rd. It was touching to see him put his hand over his heart and sing "OH say can you see ----"  .  Very moving.   Happy Independence Day to all

Had a beautiful July 4th. My Club Brother and I went on a poker run named Red,White and Boobs.   
I think you get the picture. The ride was great with perfect weather.

I celebrated with dialysis this morning... and then a picnic at a water park.  It was very nice!

our city celebration is named red, white and boom. it's supposed to be from 5pm to 10pm but right about 5 the Sky opened up and it just poured. we had just gotten the stuff off the grill, so we ate inside. it has finally stopped raining and the neighbors are setting fireworks off in the street and the dog is going crazy.

I rescheduled dialysis to Friday 3rd shift and then spent the weekend in St Augustine. There were fireworks over Fort Matanzas and the Matanzas River, very nice! We followed it up with a haunted St Augustine walking tour (mediocre - the girl was trying way too hard to be funny. She wasn't. But, scary, strange, and eerie with a ring of truth is more what we are looking for). Yesterday we rode the Old Town Trolley for a historic tour of the city, and best of all, took a haunted hearse tour of the city last night. The guy told great ghost stories, one in particular with the ghosts mocking the people they were toying with. It left a real creepy feeling. I had to go straight to dialysis this afternoon. I'm just getting home now, wore out!

In our little community, we had first a golf cart parade, such fun, then an opening ceremony honoring our veterans,then a food court, bbq beef sandwiches, hot dogs, chili, nachos, beer, soda, potato salad and baked beans. Then all kinds of baked goods, a rummage sale, a dunk tank, kids games, etc. I worked out in the heat for an hour and then came home and passed out. And, will do it again next year.

Epofriend, St. Augustine would be a great place to celebrate the 4th. It is one of my favorite cities. I bet the ghost tours were lots of fun.  Sounds like you had a good time.
