Thank God it's over. It's been 24 hours a day coverage here in Los Angeles, and everywhere you go there are 100's of news vans from all over the world. I have always like MJ's music, but this celebrity adoration, with constant media coverage, is ridiculous.

I didn't realize how much I really liked MJ. The negative publicity really tainted his fan base. I want to beleive he was innocent but it is hard not to have reservations for anyone, guilty or not, being accused of those kind of charges. The performer Michael Jackson R.I.P.

I was at work and didn't get to see the Memorial televised.  I'm currently watching CNN now doing some coverage from earlier.  Growing up in the 80's and was a HUGE fan, this has been really hard for me.  I'm going this weekend to my Mom's attic to find my MJ albums (Off the Wall, Bad, Thriller).  I hope it's still there.

I'm sorry, I feel bad that the guy died, but, we have lost quite  few people in the past few weeks, where is the media blitz for all of them?  I can't forget the charges and accusations either, but, let the poor soul rest in peace.  And  hope they leave his children alone.  they've suffered enough.

Getting the heck out of town.

I'm not exactly a Michael Jackson fan although I did name my dog after him some years ago.  I'm actually more of a Placido Domingo type myself.  But I do reconize a genius and a great artist in any form.  Most are ridiculed and made fun of.  MJ was an innovator and creator of art and I say let us not judge him on any other standards.  Don't Christians have a saying about that?  Most artist don't get that recognition so soon.  I say he deserved it.

Good post DW. I must agree, it is lonely at the top and greed very well could have driven the abuse charges filed against him.  Good example is the rappers who get shot down in their prime because of jealousy and competition. We will never know for sure but he was found innocent in a court of law.

okarol: I am in SoCal too and was a little overwhelmed with how much media coverage there has been. (I did enter the lottery but did not get a ticket).

marti824: We lost 2 people from my center just this last week.

Michael was an amazing artist, extremely gifted. Whether those charges against him were true or not, we will never know. God can take care of that. However, I agree that the coverage was more than a trifle overdone. Nobody was even mentioning Ed McMahon and or Farrah Fawcett. But then we do know how the media works. just my 2 cents worth.

:ukflag; R.I.P. Michael.  The Memorial Service was shown live in the UK, it started an 6.30am and finished at 8.45am. Both John and I had many tears throughout the service, we did not realize how much he had done for charity and the people of his race. It was lovely to see the children for the first time as Michael had always kept them away from the public.
I have always loved his music and was looking forward to him coming over to London at the O2.  He will be missed by all his UK fans.

We love you Michael     Yvonne and John

I watched and thought the service was respectful and they did a good job.  But, I also watched the tv nonstop when Elvis died. It was crazy then also.  They were both legends and made a huge contribution to the world of music.  I can celebrate the genius of the man and seperate that from the person.    I couldn't help but think how odd it must have been for Lisa Marie Presley. Both her father and former husband to die young and possibly from drug misuse.  It always seemed strange that Elvis's daughter ended up married to Michael Jackson.  Life is a very tangled web.
