Welcome, Danielle.  I don't have any stories for you, I just think you are being very generous, and that is a wonderful gesture.  Good for you!   :bow;

Best wishes to you and I hope all goes well. If you haven't already you should check out the threads on Living Donors Online for some good info:

Read about the experiences of others who have actually gone through the living donation process:

Learn about living kidney donation:

Living Donor Buddies is a program administered by Living Donors Online! (LDO) that matches potential living donors with people who have already gone through the living donation experience:

Please go to the "Introduce Youself" section and post when you can. Thanks!

Danielle, what a truly awesome act of generosity! I wanted to wish you best of luck!

I have no first-hand experience as a donor. My donor from 33 years ago is still alive and doing fine (in his mid 60s now) and seemed to find the experience rewarding enough to donate bone marrow to a stranger 20 years later. A colleague at my husband's former workplace donated a kidney to his wife and was back in the office 4 days later (felt fatigued, but otherwise fine). I hope your experience is as smooth as theirs. I will be thinking of you on August 12!
