I am new, how common is it to have your fistula infiltrated?  Is it because the tech needs more training?

I haven't started using fistala yet... four more weeks.  But  I don't think I want the techs doing it.  Unless I find one tech who is good and will do it every time.  Some of the techs appear a little questionable to me.

i Just finished my 3rd week. The same 2 techs have done my needles. I was told only the most experienced techs are allowed to stick a virgin fistula. hope I'm never infiltrated!

Occasionally an infiltration can happen when being stuck with such large needles.  Also if you are moving around the needle can move, too and you can cause it to happen. It creates a very black and blue looking arm for a few days.

Infiltration is easier to do with a new fistula, too. The fistula tends to toughen up over time.
