Need a little help

Hi All, I participated in the NKF of Wisconsin Kidney Walk this past fall and I just got an e-mail from them asking me if I would be willing to write a couple of paragraphs discussing the reasons why it was a good thing to do so. It then will be published in their March Newsletter during Kidney Month. So, I have many talents but the least of them is writting. How about some ghost writers help me out. Besides making sure I mention IHD, how about some one liner talking points that I can use. This is your chance to get your 15 minutes of fame with me taking all the credit...Boxman

In your situation with the one leg, you could make a few one liners.

As I wheeled my self across the finish line on the WALK I felt exhilarated.

I hopped to it on this walk.

I had a wheel good time.

Boxman, tell us "why" you participated in the walk.  Tell us "who" you were walking for.  Was it for yourself, others, or friends who have passed on.  Tell us how it felt to finish.... to get the t-shirt.  To wear the t-shirt.

Why did you do it? Raise awareness? Raise money? Get out of the house?  Meet people? Is it important to connect with other kidney patients (insert IHD here LOL)
How did the event meet your expectations? More people than you imagined? Patients and their friends or families? What surprised you?
I have never been on a walk, so tell us what it was like, from the time you signed up, and people started contributed funds - through to the day of the event, who was there, did you have help getting there, how did you manage your wheel chair? These are a few questions I would want to read about. If you answer some of them and I can help organize your thoughts, if you want.
I am glad they asked you to participate Boxman!

Boxman, whatever you write will be well-received, I have zero doubt about that.  If you decide you want someone to go through it once you're done, you're welcome to PM it to me (or email it if that's easier) and I'll proof it for you.  I say just describe the experience in your own words as if you were talking to a specific person and it will be terrific.

Hi Boxman

I have been away but I would have offered to write it for you but I think you have done a terrific job.  Mind you, if I had written it for you, you would have had to change everything anyhow.  Still remember the story I did during the olympics over here that was picked up by the New York Post.  The sub-editor at the paper rang and told me he had just translated it from Aussie into Yank.  Don't put yourself down as a writer.  You are very good and that's the word from a seasoned journo!! xx

I just received the National Kidney Foundation of Wisconsin's newsletter "Connections - Spring 2009" in the mail. On the front page is our very own BOXMAN! His photo and story are the main feature! The story is called "Why I Walk" and he mentions ihatedialysis - isn't that cool? I don't know if you can see it online, but I will scan it once I get a computer hooked up to my scanner (it might be awhile, computer is dead.)

Congrats Box! I am so proud of you!!
