Serpico's Intro!
«

I have been an insulin dependent diabetic for 26 years. In August 2006 I was diagnosed with kidney failure! On 21AUG06. I had a port put in my chest, and started dialysis on the same day. I was not surprised that I hated dialysis as much as I thought I would! I have learned to live with it, even though I don't like it! I always wonder what doors I have opened for other health problems by going on dialysis. My wife actually found this web site for me. She is always trying to help me in any way she can. She was the main reason I decided to take the trip into the unknown!
My vision is pretty bad. I am blind in my right eye and my left eye is impaired!
Just trying to make the best of a bad situation like everyone else. Hopefully we can help each other!
I love beer!

Hi, Serpico!
Nobody loves dialysis, but on the bright side it means life for so many!
Welcome to a wonderful forum of caring individuals. Rant if you need to, ask questions, and share experiences. I hope you get as much from joining as I have. And tell your wife to join, too. There is a special section for us care givers!

Hi Serpico and welcome to IHD. Your wife may find this site helpful too as we have a section for care givers and spouses. They need to bitch too.
I really hate dialysis but I have chosen to live. I could stop at anytime and that gives me control which I need.
I hope you read lots of posts or have someone help you read them. They are informational and funny sometimes.

Everybody is tempting me with beer today. My best friend just left. He drank 3 beers right in front of me. I'd have been ticked except he came over to bring my lunch so...
Anyway, I'll be happy to tell you what I don't like about dialysis but I suspect you've already figured out most of them. All I could come up with today for my positive thought was "it's sunday, I don't have to go"...
There's something a little sick about this, but I think it helps that there are so many people struggling with the same issures.
At any rate, welcome to the site, Serpico. We'll get through it together.

Welcome to our community, Serpico! This is just the place for you to be. A special commendation to your wife for getting you here. As others have already told you, there is a great section for caregivers and loved ones of kidney patients. She would do well there. You just keep reading and keep posting. Let us know how you are doing. You are now part of this tremendous IHD family
Looking forward to hearing from you.
