My mom is in the hospital (again!) with CHF, She is now having dialysis 4x a week, which we thought would prevent the CHF.
The pulmonologist (lung DR) told her that tomorrow he is going to take her to the OR and fuse parts of her lungs, so that they can't fill up with fluid.  Has anyone ever heard of this?
My mom is a poor candidate for surgery due to her numerous health issues, but this must be pretty important!
Thank you
Lisa

I don't know a lot about CHF  but here is what I can contribute..

When someone has CHF it affects the renal blood flow and the lungs get edema (pulmonary edema).  About fusing the lungs... I haven't heard of it.  Perhaps the doctor is trying to prevent the lung edema??   I do know the fluid in your lungs can be extremely painful.  When I had fluid removed from my lungs they used chest tubes.

I wish you the best... you are both in my prayers!
