An unusual question

I bet this question has never been asked before! I need to find a better pair of earphones for my laptop for dialysis, but I don't know which kind would work best to filter out the noise in the center. The ones I have are like those ear bud type, but slightly larger. They don't really fit in my ears, so I have to hold them tightly in my ears. Plus they are very uncomfortable and it's still hard to hear. I know the newer ear bud earphones are smaller and more comfortable. Which would be better for drowning out outside noise, ear buds, or the ones that are round, about an inch, inch and a half and covered in that black foam covering? I realize that the earphones that completely cover the ears are best, but I can't afford those. Help! I really want to watch my movies at dialysis!

I use a pair of Sennheiser headphones that cost about $A60 I think the model number is HD-202 or something like that. They are over the ear headphones non noise-cancelling but I find they give me great sound from my laptop and the unit sounds are not so intrusive, but I can obviously still hear if my machine alarms, or someone's talking to me (well, mostly) which I think is important to keep alert to what is going on around me. I find them pretty comfortable for 5 or so hours of use.

I use some ear buds made by Philips. I think I paid around $20. I use them for both my laptop and the TV at the center. They work great. As a matter of fact, the TV at the center is not stereo so only one side of the headphones works for the sound. I find most times, I put the other earbud in just to block the noise.

Plus they are very small and easy to carry inside a zipper pocket.

Ohhhh...so that's why only one side works??? I thought my Ear Buds were going bad.....bad meee that is.

When only one side works, I find I can jimmy it a little by playing with the pin, sometimes putting it in just half way.  Then I can get stereo sound!

Oops! I didn't even bother doing a search because I figured it was such an odd question! Thanks for the link though. Unfortunately, they are all way out of my budget. I need something in the $10 or less range. Less being preferable!

I got Rob noise cancelling headphones from Sony, I think they were $30.00, when he was in-center.  They go over the head, but work great.  Last year I drove to NY State and my son used them for his portable dvd player.  I had the radio cranked and he didn't hear it at all.  You don't have to have the volume on high to cancel out the noise.

I needed a headset that both blocked noise and had a microphone, since I use Skype to call my dad for free.     I've been very happy with this pair.

I went to Best Buy today and got a pair of cheapo $5 ear buds that have a flexible rubber tip that fits within the ear canal. They aren't like the normal hard ear buds. Those things are just too big to fit in my ears. The cheapest noise canceling ones BB had were over $30! These say they are noise canceling too and they work great!! And only five bucks!

I bought a 40 dollar set of noise canceling headphones at BestBuy. They are great.
