We got 6 inches of snow overnight! Most snow we have had in several years. But, like with Alene, it shuts everything down for days. The govenor declaired a state of emergency. Malls, banks, clinics, dialysis centers---all closed. My 5 and 7 year old grandskids had a great time. They have never seen this much snow. I had no where to go, big pot of beef vegetable soup simmering and was able to watch the inaguragion (with a sweet kitty curled up on my lap). Good day for me!

I'm about two hours south of Paris (not Paris, France -- Paris from IHD), and we had four inches of the white stuff on Tuesday.  Yes, here in southeastern North Carolina, four inches of snow shuts down everything.  No school yesterday, and no school today.  Banks, businesses, and everything else shut their doors and went home.   It was beautiful (I love to watch it come down), but now I'm ready for it to melt.  The last time I remember having this much snow was about eight or nine years ago.  Usually, we only have a few flakes here and there.  The last two-three years, we haven't had any snow at all.  I took some pictures, Wattle, and I'm going to try to get them downloaded.

It seems like NC gets snow when the storm comes from the south and cold air is pushing down from the North.  Petey is right--it has been 8 or 9 years since we have had such a nice snow.  Our year round schools have to go Saturday to make up a day of school.  Friday it will be around 60, so the snow event is almost over.
