Hi, I'm Roy, I'm British and I live on the S.W. coast of France close to the Spanish Border.  I was born with one kidney and last year discovered a tumour on the top half of it.  My French Specialist tried to remove the tumour along with half of the kidney in the hope of sparing the remainder and me living a fairly normal life.  Unfortunately the risk was too great so my kidney was removed.  I have been on dialysis for one year now and have to wait a further year before I can go on the transplant list.  Although I have only just introduced myself, I have been a member for a couple of months and find the site extremely helpful.  I'm getting to grips with Dialysis but have occasional problems and as my French is by no means perfect I don't always understand what the doctors are telling me.  I'm so glad that I will be able to speak to people with similar problems. :waving;

 :welcomesign;   Welcome Roy.  Where do you live exactly?  Near Biarritz?  I love the south west of France and regret that my visits there are currently curtailed by my need for dialysis.  I'm glad you joined us here and hope that you will post as often as possible and ask any questions you might have.  How does organ donation work where you live?  Is it reverse onus like in Spain or is it an opt-in system like in North America?

Welcome to our community, Roy!  I love it when lurkers finally introduce themselves. I know my task is made easy - you are already sold on IHD.   When you said you lived in the south of France, I was just about to lapse into French, but you then said your French is not that good.   Just want to welcome you to the family :grouphug;  This is a great place for support.  You don't go through anything on your own when you are a part of the IHD family.  So keep reading and keep posting. :flower;

Hi Roy and  :welcomesign;

I am British too.  I have lived in the USA for a long time now.  Sorry you lost that kidney--at least he tried to save half of it.

It must be hard to live in a country that you don't know the language of.  Here you will find we all speak the same language--the language of kidney failure.

You will find information and support here.   Post often.
