Today I succeeded in pissing parent off.   Well their child stole markers out of my desk and I caught her with my markers in her possession. Of course she denied it.  I called the parent to tell them I was sending her to the office because I suspected her of stealing these markers from my desk.  She has time and opportunity to take them.  Besides when my aide and I searched her bag, there my markers were. The Dad was very angry at me.  I told him politely that I was informing him of the reason I was sending his child to the administrator.  The admin would deal with the situation.  The Dad asked me:  What would you do if a teacher accused your child of stealing?  I did not answer him. I told him he could discuss the matter with my admin seeing as this man was so was angry with me.  My aide said I was very polite over the phone.,  The man also called me rude.   I think he was more angry that I called him about his kid.  I also sent the book of class referrals written on his child to the admin for back up.    I closed my classroom door and locked it in case the parent came storming down to the school.   Then I went back to teaching class after I wrote the office referral.

Now let me answer his question. If my daughter had been caught with a teacher's property there would be hell to pay from my daughter! I would have killed my kid first then asked questions later.  Well at least i know now why the kid is the way she is.

My admin said he would back me up in the meeting with the parents and not to let them rattle me at all.

Welcome to my world!

And then people wonder why it is that so many seem totally unable to take responsibility for their actions.  Parental devotion gone horribly wrong IMO.

I gave a written statement today to our SRO- School resource officer.  He had talked to Dad and Dad was calmer.  We are to have a meeting soon about the child.  Groan! We are assuming she copped to the stealing of my markers to Dad.
I am not allowed to kick her ass, like she deserves, so I am moving her into an isolated area in my classroom and she cannot ge tup out of her seat for ANY reason!  Let's see how she likes them apples! She is a bully and is mean to the kids in my room.

Lord please give me patience.  I do not want to be TAUGHT patience. Could you please just give me some?

The Dad asked me:  What would you do if a teacher accused your child of stealing?

I would apologize for my kids bad behavior. If it turns out the teacher was wrong, that will come out later. But my kid would be in serious interrogation as soon as they got home!
