Renal Advantage Completes National Renal Acquisition
01/02/2009

BRENTWOOD, Tenn.—The parent company of dialysis provider Renal Advantage said January 2 that it has completed its acquisition of Franklin, Tenn.-based National Renal Alliance.

The deal was effective Dec. 31, 2008. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Renal Advantage is the third largest for-profit dialysis provider in the United States. And under the new deal, the combined company will own and operate 136 dialysis centers in 18 states and care for approximately 10,500 patients.

Renal Advantage was formed in 2005 in the wake of DaVita’s billion-dollar acquisition of Gambro’s dialysis clinics. To appease competition concerns, DaVita divested a number of clinics. Renal Advantage eventually purchased 73 clinics for $320.5 million.

“We remain confident in our belief that the combination of our two companies’ cultures, philosophies and standards of excellence will serve as a basis for our success in the future, and we look forward to working with National Renal Alliance’s management and employees to accomplish a smooth and seamless transition for patients and physicians,” said Michael D. Klein, CEO of Renal Advantage.
