Hi my name is Robert and I just recently found out about this site through a friend. I thought I would come here and see what it was all about! Well my story is simple, I was diagnosed with Alports Syndrome at the age of 2, for those of you who don't know what that is, it's basically a constant degeneration of your kidneys. My kidneys failed just after my 18th birthday September 25th 2004 and I have been on in center hemo dialysis ever since. I am currently awaiting a transplant and have been on the list for a year and a half. I have always been in search of a dialysis community where I can share my thoughts and views with people who live with and around MY situation...I look forward to talking with you!

Hi Budlite. Wait a minute that isn't right!
Anyway, hope you enjoy the site. It isn't all about dialysis. There is an "Off-Topic" section that gets pretty interesting sometimes.
Welcome to our site.

Hi Budman,
Me and Shades also have Alports so that makes 4 (including Python) of us! I only found out recently at the age of 34 and have been dialyzing for 2 months now. Welcome to our little community and I hope you find it useful.

Hi Budman. As Matty said, my son and I have Alports too. Son is on dialysis (has been since he was 15), I'm not - my kidneys seem to be holding up so far. Since we joined this site we don't feel so lonely any more as Alports is comparatively rare.
Big welcome and I'm sure you'll love this site
