A new member from Olathe, KS

Hi all, I am a 43yr old man from Olathe KS. I have been married to an Elementary School teacher for 21 years and I have a 14 year old daughter.
I was diagnosed with kidney disease about 10 years ago and have been monitored pretty regularly by a nephrologist over the years. All of my numbers have been getting worse over the past couple of years. I was placed on the UNOS database back in the Summer. We thought I had a live donor, but in the testing it was discovered that he has crystals on one of his kidneys. This past Tuesday, my nephrologist told me that she's ready for me to go on dialysis whenever I'm ready.
I work as a consultant and travel to a different city in the US almost every week so we are planning to do PD and try to coordinate delivery of fluids/supplies. I have a ton of questions about PD and figuring out when is the right time to get started, but I'll post those in the right forum rather than here in my intro. I'm looking forward to chatting with folks.

Ill be starting PD myself soon.
There is a section here about PD and other home types of treatment. Two members just in the last month or so started doing PD and have written a diary of sorts in one of the threads that i found very useful. They take you almost step by step as to what to expect.

Hi Tim. Welcome to IHD. I've been on PD for 5 years now and although I don't work, my husband and I travel quite frequently by plane and also by car. Not sure which company you'll be working with but Fresenius has been really helpful and cooperative with all of my travel arrangements. Wishing you luck as you start this next chapter of your life and feel free to ask lots of questions. There are a lot of knowledgeable people here.

Hey Tim!
Bob here I used ti live in Wichita for 20 years or so. I then moved to California with the rest of my family to be closer to them. Ive been on PD for about three months now and it is (I feel) the best thing out there. Look into it it will make you feel allot more healthier. Also you may prolong the little kidney you have. Keep in touch and post often.
