Any car mechanics on here?
I have a 2005 Honda Accord. When I set the cruise control to 45mph and start down a hill it speeds up to 60mph! I took it in today and they said that it would do that if the setting is lower than it can coast. This does not make sense to me. I thought cruise control set your speed. They said an Accura has "active" cruise control that does slow down you car. Not the Honda.
Are they giving me the run-around?
I had a Dodge Intrepid and I could see the brake go down if I was going down a hill.

If I remember correctly, cruise control only makes it so the car doesn't go any slower than set. Going down hills still can increase in on my car.

What you could do too is google 2005 Honda Accord and it should bring up issues other people have had with their cars.

Of all the bew cars I have had, I have never had that issue, even with my 2004. I could see this happening if it is vaccum controlled cruise control, but I do not have enough information knowledge on Hondas design of their cruise control mechanism.

JP already did the research, thanks JP. Every make of vehicle is different. It also depends if it is an after market cruise or factory installed. Most newer cars are factory installed however.
