I can't speak to the taste factor, but here goes on the Bactroban question:...It is to prevent, or treat MRSA, which is a very dangerous, and prevalent bacteria. MRSA can reside in blood, wound, urine, stool, and PD fluid. It can be deadly. Antibiotics can treat it to some degree, but it will still kind of "hang out" in the nostrils, won't be touched by oral, and even IV antibiotics. Sometimes you can be a carrier of MRSA, and pass it to people, without getting it yourself. Your Dr. is on top of things!
