We put new laminate flooring in our entrance last week and are doing a new set of steps to the basement and up to the kitchen.  Well tonight I went to get one of the posts for the railing out of the closet and something fell on the floor. I thought it was a shoe or something but when I looked the floor was grey!!!  I had knocked over a gallon of paint that I put in the closet last week when I was cleaning up!!!  It was grey oil paint for garage floors!!!  The cover popped off and every drop of paint came out all over the floor.  I could have cried!!!  We were about an hour and a half trying to clean it up. Used several rolls of paper towels and then I started with Vim for floors and Murphy's oil.  Can hardly notice it now .  What is left now the mat will cover or it is in the closet!!!

Being a painter by trade I know what you went through. Do the same thing on someone else's carpeting...been there.

Yikes sounds like a nightmare. My brother is a paint expert. You want me to ask him if there is more you can do?   Boxman

Please ask him boxman!!  Thanks!!  It's laminate flooring not hardwood!! I had some on my socks and tracked in into the hallway where there is hardwood.  Cleaned off that very easily!!. I scrubbed the laminate with vim for flooring and murphy's oil.  Was afraid to use anything stronger . Afraid I would take the finish of the laminate!!  We were going to put the rail on the steps but that got cancelled tonight LOL!!!

Oh Del, isn't it just the pits when something brand new gets messed up.  But think of it this way.  All the rest of the nicks and dings and whatever that happen in the future will be so much easier.

Sorry mate
Thank God my dog Gemma wasn't at your house = guaranteed she would be sniffing the paint and walking through it  and doggie prints every bloody where,
but her intentions would have been to help  :rofl;
Glad you won the battle and you have carpet to complete the "cover up"
 :clap;
