I'm pretty sure I gave him a ride today.

Okay, I've never picked up a hitchhiker before in my life.  But I was driving back from town today in a nasty, snowy mess of slush and ice, when I passed an old man with his thumb out on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere.  The 10 or so cars in front of me had passed him by.  He was 80 if he was a day, complete with white beard, round tummy, and a pack on his back.  I just couldn't leave Santa standing there by the side of the road!  Plus, he was old enough that it made me wondered if he was senile enough to have wandered away from home.  He chatted along with me once I picked him up, at least enough to ensure that he had all his wits about him.  He was just old and too stubborn to sit around waiting for a ride from someone he knew.  I dropped him off at his destination and slushed my way on home.

I'm still wondering if there were toys in the pack, though. . . .

Gemma - the tucker monster

« Reply #4 on: November 25, 2008, 02:05:01 AM »

Oh my goodness
I just had 8 kids from school see me at home (Gemma the dog and I spent an hour or bit more) on the front lawn and in the park
They live two doors up when they are in from the bush
Anyway
They said they reckon I will know when Santa is "checking us out" before Christmas comes
Geez I miss school and the kids
We made a deal = because they are in town for another four days  before they go hunting and sorry business
I can't wait to see them tomorrow and tell them that I had a IHD mate who picked Santa up and helped him on his way

It's great to be able to tell the kids a true story
Thanks mate

I hope he checks me out too and gives me .....
