I know that most of you are on dialysis.  I am not; my husband is.  I hope that I am still excepted here.  The people I met on livingdonorsonline.com told me about this site.  My husband was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease just this past August.  He was immediately hospitalized and put on dialysis.  Talk about a huge shock to us!!!  There is so much about everything that I still don't understand and so much that hurts I am hoping to form bonds with the people here who may be expierencing the same things as my husband and I.  We have had an interesting road already laid out in front of us.  We got married in May of 2007.  In August of 2007 I lost my left index finger due to an accident at my job.  (I no longer work there)  And now we are facing an even bigger challenge.  I am 23 and my hubby is 26.  Its amazing how much life can happen in such a short time!  I am afraid for the first part of my adventure I won't be of much help to those of you who are looking, but hopefully down the road I can be.  Hubby goes to dialysis three times a week for 4 hours and has an hour drive each way.  He works part time and is on the vol. fire dept. in our town.  His mom was the first to be tested and failed because of high blood sugar.  His sisters boyfriend is being test now and he is on the list.  We need an A+ kidney.  I am A+ too but he is worried that it will cause to many complications with pregnancy should we ever have a child.  Which we so desparetly want but are holding off for the transplant first.  I think that is about everything now.  Thanks for your intrest in me.

Welcome Morgan.  I'm glad you found this site because together we have so much experience with dialysis and caregiving to dialysis patients that you are sure to find something useful.  I'm sorry that you and your husband are having to deal with all this garbage and all the more so because of how young you are.  I myself started dialysis at 26 and we have several people around your age on here too.  Post often and I look forward to learning more about you.   :welcomesign;  :canadaflag;

Glad you joined us.  You are certainly accepted here.  There is a lot of information here.
Congrats on your marriage.  Sorry about your finger and the loss of your job.  Got fired?
It must be shocking to find out that your husband is ESRD.  Doctors are negligent on testing for kidney stuff.  They seem to be so concerned about cholesterol and lipids that most don't even do urine tests these days.  Even then they do not tell patients that there is something is wrong with their kidneys.  I found out on a lab report from a blood test or I would not know.  I don't think it is fair not to be prepared.
Best wishes on having a child in the future.

Welcome, Morgan.  I'm a caregiver, too, and caregivers are definitely welcomed, accepted, and loved here on IHD.  I feel for you and your husband because you are starting on this difficult road at such a young age.  My Marvin and I were young, too (I was 32, he was 39) when he first started dialysis, though we were a little older than you.  Marvin was on hemodialysis for 5 1/2 years, then I got to be his living donor (best thing I ever did for ME).  He kept my kidney for a little over three years, and he's been back on home hemo ( YEAH home hemo  :2thumbsup; ) for five years.  I'm now 46, and Marvin will soon turn 53.  There's a wealth of information right here from people (both patients and caregivers) who have walked and are still walking where you and your husband are.  We're always here to offer our experiences, our advice, and our support.  Welcome to our family.

Welcome to ihatedialysis.com Morgan,

I like your name, reminds me of one of my favorite actresses Morgan Fairchild.  :)  You and your husband have been given a rough deck of cards to play but it sounds like you are doing alright. My heart goes out to you both and I hope you find the right donor for your husband. As for your index finger well I guess that's why we have nine more, sorry I was just trying to take the lighter side. You seem to be thinking things through and I hope that when the time is right, that children are in your future. I believe God doesn't give us more than we can handle. I'm glad you found us and if we can be of any help just ask. Feel free to browse and ask questions if you need to.

Welcome to our community, Morgan!  I am from the Caribbean, so your name makes me think of pirates!  I am glad that you found us.  You will find that this site will help you along the way, with information, support, and even some fun.  As you have heard we have lots of caregivers here and I am sure that interacting with them will help.  This is now your new family  :grouphug;   congratulations on your marriage.  Our caring thoughts and prayers are with you both.  I hope we will soon be able to put your husband on our list of transplants.
Looking forward to hearing more from you.
