Pyelonephritis (began at 8 mos old)
Home haemo 1980-1985 (self-cannulated with 15 gauge sharps)
Cadaveric transplant 1985
New upper-arm fistula April 2008
Uldall-Cook catheter inserted May 2008
Haemo-dialysis, self care unit June 2008
(2 1/2 hours X 5 weekly)
Self-cannulated, 15 gauge blunts, buttonholes.
Living donor transplant (sister-in law Kathy) Feb. 2009
First failed kidney transplant removed Apr.  2009
Second trx doing great so far...all lab values in normal ranges

Hello my friends,
Time flies when you sleep all day.  I am healing more every day.  Still hard to lift with my left arm, but slow and steady . . . .and patient wins the race.   The surgeon put the expanders into place at the time of mastectomy.  I should be ready for the exchange early next year.  It's a little more time than I anticipated, but not a huge deal.  Hopefully one or two more fills and I will be done with that and then it's just wait.   I can wait.   This is nothing compared to CKD.  I love you all, and I cannot thank you enough for the words of encouragement and support.

7 yr transplant lost due to rejection.

Diagnosed with FSGS in1990.
Started hemodialysis in April 2006.
Received a new kidney from my sister on Dec. 5, 2006.
Transplant rejection in March, 2009
Approved for second transplant in May 2009
Sister-in-law approved as donor in Dec 2009

Another hurdle. . . .I saw my surgeon today to get the pathology results.   The margins are not clean around the tissue they took during the mastectomy.  They need a clean margin of at least 1 mm -- the more the better.   We got less than 1 mm.   I will have another surgery as soon as we can get the auth from my medical group.   
Again, just a pain in the neck for my girls and me.  It will be an outpatient procedure, only my left breast and only a day or two off work.  Nothing like the mastectomy and expander placement. 

GET YOUR MAMMOGRAMS DONE!!  Pretty please.

Vandie,  I want to just sit here and cry for you.  Some days you are afraid to ask "what more can a person go through?". 

Just to make you laugh --- think of the memorial service for Susie and how the women kept saying " jeeeezuuussss"   That day was so very special. Spending that time with you and Okarol was priceless.  We cried a lot, but we also laughed. 

I keep you and your girls in my prayers.  You are teaching them that they will beable to handle anything they encounter in life.  One step at a time, and we are all walking right beside you.  Love you,   :cuddle;

Susie is always laughing with us.  That was a special time for me too.  Being with girlfriends makes everything just a bit easier.
