RAI
« on: October 08, 2008, 03:36:53 PM »

For those who have not heard of it, uses NxStage and is a competitor of Davita in Charlotte.  It is who I transferred to after my Davita Disaster.  Not sure if it was Davita as much as the particular center and untrained staff I had gone to for home hemo.  RAI is opening another center in Goldsboro soon as well.  Check it out.  Training is very hands on.  My Gdtr and I learned more yesterday and today than we did in 4 weeks of Davita.  We had not been taught any of the alarms (except any that might have gone off during dialysis), friendly people and everyone seems to do their job well and as a team.  I am impressed.  They have over 80 centers nationwide now and opening more.  Also looking for more nurses if you know anyone looking.  Check out their website.  They have a large presence in I believe Southern California, and are rolling out new plans for patients that sound very interesting.

Sounds good Ann.  I'm especially glad to hear that they're treating both of you as if you are actually in possession of a pair of perfectly good brains despite the fact that your collective kidneys are not working on all fours.  Just on all twos as I'm assuming your granddaughter is healthy as well as helpful.   :cuddle;

It's actually based in Nashville just like DCI. I don't know if there's any more to the connection or not. DCI is #3 and RAI is #4 nationwide. DCI is non profit and very active in this area. RAI currently has no centers in either Tennessee or Kentucky.

Hi all...thanks for your kindness...last week was a nasty moment in time but we came through it..ended up with another puncture in my chest..neph now don't want IV's, blood draws etc done in dialysis patients arms just in case they will be needed so are starting to push for Pic Lines to be used..oh well...I'm feeling good, going in center at RAI now for dialysis, am now being forced to learn how to take care of myself first for awhile..this should be interesting..will probably now have time to do some of the reading etc that I enjoy..I've been making christmas gift lists and checking them twice..my gift this year will be the best. I believe my sisters and brother from ND and MN are coming to visit for a few days around Christmas and I'm so excited and have a lot to look forward too..I'm trying to catch up reading on IHD and making sure everyone is ok...I'm planning on doing my SS shopping this week yet too.  Hope you all had a great Halloween..I missed it but got to at least see the beautiful fall colors around here. Have a great weekend.

Going through life tied to a chair!

We should start a new line of Hemodialysis centers called "I Hate Dialysis".   We would have trained staff that would listen to patients.  We would have classes so they would know what is going on and all their options.  We would allow Alcohol.... and snacks.  We would have an ice machine and warm blankets.  I wish I had the energy and money to do this.....

G-Ma, how in the hell do they just close a center and not give advance notice so patients can make other arrangements.  :banghead;  :Kit n Stik; These dialysis companies should have some kind of rules to play by but they seem to be ruled by the dollar. It just makes me  :puke; I sure hope someone calls them to task on it.  :cuddle;

I feel the same way W W...what is so sad is they had about 14 patients and all had day jobs so that will really confuse their lives.  Somedays I just don't understand how people are treated by those in "control".
