My name is Mike and I have been undergoing dialysis for six months.  They are not sure what actually caused me to need dialysis.  I went on vacation, thinking I had a lingering case of the flu, with some swelling in my legs.  On the first full day of vacation, I ended up in the hospital for 11 days.  Started dialysis in the hospital, then in a clinic in Arizona before heading back to the Midwest.  I feel like I have adjusted so that dialysis does not dominate my life, but is simply another part of it.  It is much easier since my access kicked in, and I can shower again.  I have lurked on the boards off and on, but look forward to joining the discussions.

Welcome Mike!  I have been on dialysis for a little over a year now.  They also do not know what caused my kidney failure.  It certainly opens up doors to worlds you never existed, doesn't it?  Welcome to this site.  I love it and have found it very helpful.  I look forward to hearing more from you.
