I visited my amazing sis-in-law (potential donor) yesterday while she was in the hospital.  At that time she had finished her required blood work, had her chest x-ray and was in the process of her 24-hr.  They put in an IV just before we left for the CT of the kidneys to be done today.  I haven't heard from her yet, so I'm not sure if she's still there or not.  Apparently, they were running 2 hrs late yesterday because of the receiving of evacuee's from Galeston/Houston area.  I'm not sure if they are running on schedule today or not.  Probably not.

She originally had told me she was a 3/6 antigen match, but come to find out she is a 4/6 antigen match.  Even better!  I'm staying positive!

My concern now is this darn cough!  I can't seem to shake this cough and allergy symptoms (runny nose and drainage).  Even if they do approve her we're going to have to wait until my cough is gone.  I think the "committee" meets on the 26th, so we have some time.

Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers!

Well, it's 5:45 p.m. and I just got a call from her and she's still at the hospital!  She's waiting for the doctor to come in and discuss her tests and then discharger her.  I guess they're still running late due to evacuee's.

I am surprised they do a CT scan already - I think most centers do this after all the other labs are good and ready to move forward.

Well, they do the CT scan last.  All other tests were performed yesterday. They would have had her lab results this a.m., as well as her 24-hr urine results.  They did the CT at 2:30 p.m. today.

I'm expecting them to "deny" her.  They are sending her to the "committee" on Wednesday anyway.  Apparently she had protein in her 24-hour urine (200 mcg) and their cut-off is 150 mcg.  They denied my first donor (brother) when he had 168 mcg.

I'm starting to get discouraged.

Kelly, you already know my view---just keep doing exciting things and living large.  I'm still praying for a good kidney for you, but in the meantime, there is Vegas! :clap;
