So i finally got cramps while getting dialyzed. started in my hands and quickly spread to my legs, the pain was agonizing, the only thing the tech could do was turn off the water extraction, i wrythed in agony for 15 minutes. now i'm more than a little worryed of a reoccurance on the wednesday session. What did i ever do in my life that was so bad that dialysis was the result. i hate dialysis!!

If you are having bad cramps, the tech can return some fluid to you to ease the cramping. Also if you are NOT diabetic, they will give dextrose to ease cramps at our clinic.

I am one of those who do not cramp.  I do, however, pass out.  Luckily, that has not happened in a long time.  What does sometimes happen, and this might be a little TMI, my breasts will get sore or I will have pain just under the breastbone.  I attribute that to too much fluid being removed as well.  A little bit of fluid returned helps with the pain under the breastbone, but the other needs a warm blanket across my chest. *G*

You figure these things out as you go.  Just like life, dialysis has a learning curve
