NxStageUsers Schedules 2nd Annual Meet Up & Conference
for Oct. 2-4, 2011 in New Orleans

NxStageUsers, the largest dialyzor-based, home hemodialysis organization in the nation announced today that their 2nd Annual Meet Up & Conference is being held at the Embassy Suites Hotel New Orleans – Convention Center on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 2-4, 2011. The conference will immediately precede the National Renal Administrators Association (NRAA) Conference, which is also being held in New Orleans from Oct. 5-7. This provides an excellent opportunity for dialyzors, care partners and renal professionals to meet and confer over recent, government-mandated changes impacting the delivery of vital dialysis services in the United States today.

The conference will begin on Sunday evening, Oct. 2 with an informal Meet Up at the conference hotel. Over the next two days, Oct. 3-4, attendees will hear from prominent nephrologists, renal professionals, as well as dialysis patients and care partners, many of whom have pushed the boundaries of optimal dialysis, advocated for home renal care, including legislative and policy matters, and traveled widely with their own portable hemodialysis equipment. Frequent home hemodialysis offers a person with kidney failure what has been reported to be for many a more optimal therapy than in-center dialysis and the possibility for a more healthy and productive life.

Last year’s NxStageUsers inaugural conference in Las Vegas was one of the most talked-about events in the entire renal community.

“It is amazing to see such a high quality conference arranged by patients and for patients. Truly an extraordinary undertaking,” states Dr. Michael A Kraus, MD FACP; Indiana University Medical School and Clarian Health Partners. “I was impressed by the wide variety of internationally recognized speakers. The ability to share and hear others’ stories of trials and tribulations of home dialysis was exceptional. I was personally moved by the experiences of patients and care partners.

Dr. Alan Hull, Senior Medical Advisor of NxStage Medical, Inc., President of Renal Management, Inc. and former President of the National Kidney Foundation said,
“What a great event the NxStageUsers meeting was! To meet so many patients who are doing so well was one of the great treats of my career. A room full of people, 40 of whom were patients, and not being able to pick out the patients from helpers is something I have been seeking my whole nephrology life.”

The Embassy Suites New Orleans - Convention Center, 315 Julia Street, New Orleans, LA 70130, is within strolling distance of top attractions in the downtown arts and warehouse district, including the historic French Quarter, the National D-Day Museum, the Louisiana Children’s Museum, the Ogden Museum of Southern Art, the New Orleans Museum of Art, and Harrah's Casino. The Embassy Suites two-room suites offer ample room for attendees to dialyze in comfort.

About NxStageUsers
NxStageUsers was founded in 2007 to actively support and advocate for more frequent and longer dialysis treatments in order to rehabilitate all persons with kidney failure to again become active, productive citizens in American society. Our membership is primarily composed of men and women and their care partners who have personally experienced kidney loss and freely chosen dialysis with the NxStage® System One, to help their return to a healthier lifestyle. We understand and appreciate the benefits of kidney organ transplants, but also recognize that not all those suffering from kidney failure are, or will ever be, acceptable candidates for a transplant, and must therefore rely on dialysis for the rest of their lives.
