It is our experience that our perseverance in searching for a donor has paid off.  In total three persons have come forth as a donor.  Since Victor's kidney function levels are stable he is not ready for a transplant just yet.

Five hundred and twenty three e-mails, posts, articles etc. describe the activity and energy that was required to find a donor.  Our search begain 17 June 2009

Early last week Victor received our first offer of a live kidney from Texas.  This was followed by two offers on Friday past.

Was some of the info I gave you helpful?
What would you recommend that was most effective for finding a donor?

Hi, Karol:  Indeed your suggestions regarding Victor and myself's path to find a donor is what motivated me to go the distance - regardless of the disappontments, confusion, etc.
I took your notes word for word - paragraph by paragraph and to this day I use it as a "check list".  The order in which you laid out probable direction in terms of priorities  kept us focused. Each day when I found myself tiring I return to your notes - this gave me the opportunity to step aside and have a look at the entire landscape and not in the empty tunnel we found ourselves in.  Comparing a day's achievements in this manner is inspiring and productive.
Your to-do list is my driver and when I first connected with I Hate Dialysis I was overwhelmed by all the information and felt very dysfunctional.  It was then that I realized I could only make a difference if I had guidlines to follow and created a "plan" from your notes.  In essence - you saved our sanity.
The last two individuals who have stepped out to offer a kidney were very discrete and with few words.  I had hoped they found Victor's needs on on the Living Donors Online or the "I Hate Dialysis" site. I am most curious! and will pass on details as I receive them.  I am expecting to hear from them again this week and will once again ask how they found our request and will certainly direct them to these two sites.
The initial donor was from Rio, Texas and the last name "Lane".  I have e-mailed and called him to ask for his address as we would like to send him a little something in recognition of our appreciation.  Once again I will continue to persue where he found out Victor's need for a live kidney as we may well be in a needy situation with little warning. I am still in awe that this has taken place

Neo - here's the piece I wrote - Advocating for a Family Member http://ihatedialysis.com/forum/index.php?topic=13917.0 - you could do these things for yourself or have someone help you.
