Title: MABUHAY!
Post by: kremizin on September 23, 2010, 04:06:43 AM
hello guys, actually it's not me but my mom who is the candidate for D. Right now she's taking kremizin as a last resort before actually going into dialysis. . I know that sooner or later, D will be inevitable that is why I am here.  This forum is a vast source of knowledge. Good day.

Welcome to you and your mom. Curious what is kremizin?  I thought they tried everything on me and haven't heard of that.

Mabuhay has a lot of meaning...hello is what i meant. Filipinos will greet you mabuhay to say hello with intense feeling. :2thumbsup;

@murphy...kremizin is what my mom is taking right now to delay dialysis, hopefully.  according to the doctor...it came from japan and it's action is to lessen the absorbability of protein from the foods you are taking.

@rerun...son.

thank you for your warm welcome.

Thanks!  I will be able to add that to my Tagalog greetings.  I can say Magadang Umaga/Hapon/Gabe:  Como staca.  Mabute. Salamat. Pahalam.  I will surprise my Filipino friends with MABUHAY!!

Kremizin I greeted the filipino charge nurse this morning with mabuhay and her eyes opened up and said mabuhay back in the correct pronunciation. Thank you for giving us another word to greet filipinoes.

Welcome Kremizin - although that feels weird because I believe you posted your introduction before me.  I have been very intrigued about the drug that inspired your username, Kremezin (AST-120) which appears to be a form adsorptive carbon.  It appears to absorb uremic toxins secreted in the digestive tract or produced in the intestinal tract and excretes then with faeces.  http://www.mt-pharma.co.jp/e/release/nr/mpc/2006/pdf/e061108.pdf (http://www.mt-pharma.co.jp/e/release/nr/mpc/2006/pdf/e061108.pdf)  Sounds like it's similar to a phosphate binder.  Like you said, it originated in Japan.  It has been researched over the past 15-20 years.  My question to you is where are you located - or at least what country?  The only info I've been able to find are clinical trials and results in Japan and Korea.  I'm wondering specifically if it's available, even as a trial, in the US.

@kim...i'am from the Philippines. although it is not yet approved to be marketed here, some doctors are the ones dispensing it.  yes, that's what we've been told...it acts as a binder for uremic toxins which will somewhat delay the need for dialysis.

Mabuhay and thank you for the information.  You would have thought I might have clued in that you were in the Phillipines but I don't like assuming anything.   ::)  I did find that they are conducting trails in the US http://clinicaltrials.gov/show/NCT00501046 (http://clinicaltrials.gov/show/NCT00501046) but will post about that elsewhere.  Welcome again - I hope the kremizin works well for your mother and she's able to enjoy a long delay to treatment.

Mubuhay Kremizin! Great to hear back from you and so happy that the Kremizin seems to be helping. Any postponement of dialysis is going to be good thing if your mom is feeling well. And Happy Birthday to her!

I just looked at the Kibow product and it looks very interesting. The principle seems sound but I don't have any experience with it. I hope your mom continues to be as healthy as possible. Let us know if you try the Kibow and if that helps.

Kim, I ordered kibow online...hope it will be here next week. I'll keep you posted.

my mom's creatinine went up to 10.2! :(  though she doesnt feel anything unusual...i'm worried about her lab results.  it's been a year now since her neph advised us to have the fistula.  i hope we can still find ways to delay dialysis.

You'll definitely want to monitor her with her creatinine that high.  I hope she continues to feel Ok and does well overall.
