Fresenius Medical Care Providing Dialysis for Hurricane Ike Evacuees

Fresenius Medical Care North America, operator of the nation’s leading network of dialysis facilities, is providing dialysis to patients throughout Texas who evacuate because of Hurricane Ike.

Anyone who needs dialysis, whether or not they are a Fresenius patient, can call Fresenius’ 24-hour Patient Disaster Hotline, 1 (800) 626-1297. Spanish-speaking representatives are also available.

With the potential for Hurricane Ike to knock out electricity and water along the Texas coast, people on dialysis are especially vulnerable, as they typically need treatment every other day to live.

Fresenius Medical Care is working to keep clinics running after the storm, thanks to a comprehensive disaster plan which includes bringing in additional emergency backup generators, fuel and water to affected areas.
