14-Year-Old In Need Of New Kidney

DENTON (CBS 11 News) ―

On the outside, 14-year-old Dani Yaw of Denton looks like an ordinary teenager.  On the inside, she needs a new kidney.  She may even need a new heart.

While Dani awaits a transplant, friends in Denton put on a fundraiser for her.

Dani, who is 14, requires over three hours of dialysis a day.  Despite that, she hasn't missed a day of class as a freshman at Ryan High School.  That's something she attributes to God.  "He knows I was strong and I could deal with it."

Sunday's fundraiser, put on by the Blue Knights motorcycle club and the Denton County Sheriff's Department, will help put a dent in mounting medical bills.

Her father says so far it's been over a quarter of a million dollars in bills, but he's not worried.  "We're breathing" says Dave Yaw.
