Hi everyone...
I wanted to do an update on what has been happening in my world lately...
First off, I started home dialysis in May, I was so excited, this was it I was going to get my life back YIPPY!!!
Well all that sparkles is not gold...
I had a heck of a time at first on Home dialysis, my stomach was so sore, I had such feelings of being bloated , but still I pressed on...
Then the restless leg started, it was horrible, I couldn't sleep, I disturbed everyone else in the house, we were all tired and cranky, I would tell any doctor that would listen,,, "I can't sleep""I have restless leg" to which they would answer... tisk tisk, thats to bad.
Last week I headed to Halifax once again, having not slept all night in over a month, nerves raw, eyes red and burning... I told the doctors if all they could say was tisk tisk, I would be done with home dialysis, they tried to talk me into one day of hemo and all the rest home, I couldn't understand how this would be any better then 3 days of hemo...
So the end of the story is this... I am back on hemo, my first session was Friday, I am starting to feel better already, my creat was through the roof which caused the restless leg and my skin was so itchy I have sores...

Ugh! Sounds horrible! What a nighmare. I'm glad you're starting to feel better. I get the restless legs occasionally. I was getting it quite regularly, but now not so much. I did have it last night, however. I have NO IDEA if this really work or not, but Katonsdad (here on IHD) suggested putting pennies under your sheets. I placed a handful of pennies under my mattress pad on the side of the bed where I sleep. Again, I haven't really had the restless legs in a while so maybe that's whats helping! ??? I don't question it, I'm just thankful! :) Last night I was lying on the couch watching TV when I was getting the RLS. When I went to bed I didn't have any problem going to sleep. Try it and let me know if you feel better. NOTE: It didn't help right away, it was probably a few nights before I even realized "Hey, I haven't had RLS in a while". Good Luck.

:grouphug; Glad you are feeling better Kim. PD does not work for everybody - it didn't for hubby. In the 2 1/2 years he was on it he never felt really well. Kim do they have a home hemo program in your area? Hubby has been doing nocturnal home hemo for 2 years now and it is working wonderful.

I hope you feel better. It must be so disappointing but you gave it a try. :cuddle;

I have missed you so much and am sorry to hear you will be back on hemo---- however, you health will be better--- do I remember that you have a ways to drive to hemo----there is no failure in trying ; failure would be in never trying---- you can swim again---- yeah----- watch out for sharks--
would they be more attracted to us b/c of our arms------ missed you so much and we need to get back to IHD post ----- those other players have had it to easy without both of us kicking IHD butts

Sorry you had problems with your legs. I have had similar problems, only when I lay down to sleep. Drives you insane!!! My dr increased my time and it has shown on my last lab that my clearance is better. But now my phos wernt up, so that might be it too. Have to watch all these things. May try the pennies, couldn't hurt!!!
