hi
I'm Jan, a 60 yr old female from Ohio. I had PD training in April and started
CAPD mid-April and will have the cycler training 8/9-10 at Davita. At the time I have 5pc
kidney function. It has been difficult but I think I am doing well, once I got past
leaving the fluid in too long and absorbing it instead of taking it off. Still working p-t.
I have been visiting the site as a guest for about 3 months and already feel like I know most of you.
You are a courageous. strong group of people. I really have found this site helpful.
I have been on bp medicine since I was in my 20's and a diabetic for many years also.
My family genes are horrible. There are no donors there. I'm thinking about not getting
on the transplant list. Hard decision. Have a new grandchild (1st) and would like to spend
time with him. I have to say the Lord has been my strength in all of this.
I've never been on a message board before so I hope I can catch onto this easily.
Otherwise, if you don't hear from me in a while I am still figuring it all out.
Best wishes to all.
Jan

Hi Jan, I am sure glad you decided to introduce yourself and join our community. It is wonderful here. We all have at least one thing in common, dialysis, and whether you are the patient, caregiver, worker, family member, friend, you will find topics and just about any and every subject you can think of. Please feel free to post any questions, comments or concerns you may have and we will be more than happy to answer them all. Again, I welcome you and i hope to hear from you again soon....

Hi Jan, So far, so good. You got your "introduction" in the right spot, and your spelling looked good! ;D
I'm glad you finally came forward. I see a lot of guests on here and wonder about them.
Please continue reading posts and if you have a question you could always PM (Personal Message) one of the Moderators, myself included, by clicking on our name and then follow the prompts.
Otherwise it is pretty easy. Just jump right in and try.

Hi, Jan. Welcome to the board. I understand your concerns since we are contemporaries. I am 56 and was diagnosed last September. I too have my first grandchild (3 yrs old) and I want to see him grow up.
Where posting is concerned, you have done well so far. That means we can hear much more from you. You said that you have been a guest for 3 months. I am glad that after inspecting us without us knowing, you still want to be part of our community. I have found it a sharing and caring community myself, and thank the Lord (and Epoman) for directing me here.

Welcome. I'm new to this message board stuff, too and I've not been banned yet!! ;D
Sort of like cold water, just jump in!
I'd appreciate hearing your opinion on DaVita and the quality of the center, the staff, the training. DaVita is the closest option for my son on hemo and I'd like to get different perspectives. I'm sure YOU have a lot to offer US!

You have no idea how much help you have been to me already.
My cycler supplies arrived today.
Take care and thanks again, and thanks Epo!
