We went out in boat after supper yesterday. It was a beautiful evening when we went out . Hot and not a wave on the water. Well things changed very quickly!!!! We were watching those really different clouds and talking about how we had never seen any thing like it. I took lots of pictures and wished I had the video camera because they were like they were rolling up. We kept watching them and after a while I said the clouds are starting to look like thunder clouds. by that time hubby had looked and the wind had changed. You could see black water with the white caps coming in the bay. He said we had better head for home!!! Well the boat does not go real fast (cabin cruiser). Only about 7 miles an hr. The wind was catching up to us and the water was getting choppy very quickly. All this happened in the matter of a couple of minutes!! Frightened the crap out of both of us. By the time we got in to the wharf the water was very choppy even in the harbour. It was hard to get the boat docked!! Think someone or something must have been looking after us. If we had waited a few more minutes before we left to come in we probably would not have made it!! Here are some pictures. The last picture shows the waves. It was worse than that by the time we got the boat docked.

That sounds some scary Del. Glad you made the decision to head for home in time.
-
del, I'm so glad you made it back to shore safely. Those are some really cool photos though. You should send them to the weather channel. :cuddle;
-
Wow! I heard things can change very fast out on the water, but I've never seen photos of it happening before. I'm glad you're ok! I love the pictures.
-
Was there any explanation later on the news? Hope others were lucky to make it back in like you. The photos are really amazing.
-
Wow, that doesnt look fun at all. Glad you made it :thumbup;
-

WOW - you have all the fun ???

No wonder you where going so slow you had someone holding you back in that other boat behind you....Boxman

Think if it had gotten much rougher hubby was going to say jump out in the speed boat and leaave the big boat to drift in. The wind was blowing the right way to bring the boat right into the harbour!!!
I did send the pictures to The Weather Network. Hope they show some of them!!!

These sorts of weather fronts and squalls are all too common in the Chesapeake Bay region and catch boaters off guard every summer. I am so glad that you got in before it got any worse. Unfortunately, the climate scientists are saying the weather is going to get more and more wild in the future.

I don't Swim, but I do Like going out on Boats. I always know where the Life Jackets are and I sit on top of them. If I had been on Your Boat Yesterday, People would have been, Slapping me in the Face, for my Hysteria.

Those photos are really beautiful Del.

Mizar neither of us can swim. We did put our lifejackets on!!! We won't wait as long next time when we see the clouds!!!
-
del, what amazing pictures. Must have been terrifying to see them coming & praying you'll make it back to shore in time.
Luck was certainly with you.

Where was this, Del?

Newfoundland, Canada!! Canada's newest province. Province is actually called NewfoundlandLabrador. Labrador is the mainland part of the province and Newfoundland is an island. This picture was taken on the north east coast of the province.
-
Beautiful place. I live in the Puget Sound Area, and have spent time on boats in BC and Alaksa.
-
Great pictures, so sorry about the scarey parts.
