Topic Moved To "Dialysis Centers" Rerun- Moderator~
This is the web site for CMS (Center for Medicaid Medicare Services) www.cms.hhs.gov/
One of their main purposes is to see that dialysis facilities are in accordance with all regulations related to your quality of care and your treatment safety.
All facilities are required to inform their patients on a yearly basis that the CMS is available to them for any complaints of concerns they may have about their care in that facility. They must also have it documented that they have done so.
I wanted you guys to know if you were not already aware. I know, not all facilities make this information available to their patients because their afraid you will actually call them and report the facility. I some cases, that's exactly what you should do if your concerns are not being dealt with properly. I can tell you right now, if it were me or my loved one sitting there and I was having the problems I have heard you guys talk about, I would have reported them. You can not be retaliated against by law for reporting a facility.
NOTE: Always try to work out a problem or concern you have with the administrator and your Dr first. DO NOT use the CMS as a way of retaliating against a facility because they made you mad or upset. They are there for your safety and to see that your facility is giving you the best care possible.

I have not heard of this. Therefore, I doubt they have told me about it. Thank you!

Too bad this is only for the States :(
I wonder what is the equivalent in Canada?
Thank you for posting that however because that is useful for if I dialyse in Philadelphia :)

Very important site for patients of the U.S.A.
We need to understand how dialysis is paid for before we can advocate for our care. ;)
