Almost immediately after I went on the cycler in April, I got a bladder infection. I hadn't had one of those in 11 years! Now, I have this frequent feeling of needing to urinate (not as constant or insistent as a bladder infection), but, of course, there's nothing there to go as I only go about a tablespoon when I wake up in the morning. To me, it seems like the phantom pain that folks get when a limb is severed. It's as if the bladder is desperately trying to do its job, even though the kidneys are no longer supplying it.
So, have any of you PD cycler ladies experienced this? Did it go away? If no, is there anything I can do? I'm seriously thinking of asking my doctor for Detrol LA, which is supposed to help with 'overactive bladder."

I still get that once in a while - I'm on hemo, though, not a cycler. I've noticed it especially at times when I would have normally gone back when I had working kidneys - just before I leave for a car ride, or just before I'm headed in to a doctor's appointment. I know I don't have to go, but the feeling is there.
I just figured it was in my head, not my kidneys!

Count me in !!! and im on PD . I still pass quite a lot but i also get that 'feeling' and have been checked for infection. I think i might hold the record? as one night i got up 17 times!!!! with that feeling! My doctor is also considering trying to find a medication for a 'sensitive bladder'.

Peleroga, my daughter is 5 yrs on PD. Since is mildly delayed it's hard for even me to tell at times but after 26 yrs I know her well and her reactions to all. She after 5 yrs still urinates about 800 cc's during the night, I have a potty chair in her room so I know. She works during the day but I know she gets 100 cc or better out. There are times when it's less or more. but she has the URGE to go, when we are out she will seek the rest room out so she has urge. I have folllowed her to the rest rooms ( if pubic for sanitation reason :o ) and I know she passes urine so she had the feeling. All that urine and it does not matter anyhow :grouphug; my best to you.

My bladder still "wants to" but I just can't.

I'm on home hemo. I haven't had a bladder infection for years, but when I notice the symptoms, I drink half a cup of straight cranberry juice for a few days. Yeah, I know it tastes nasty, but it works!
