They say that one symptom of ESRD and the buildup of toxins is that your memory gets foggy. I thought I was doing pretty good until this morning. Driving into work, I notice that my eyes are not focusing as well as they should. Everything's a bit blurry. I think perhaps it's the sun and that I should put my shades over my glasses. I'm too lazy to do that. After all, it's only 7am and I'll be to work shortly. So I pull into the parking lot, get out of the car and look at the surroundings. Geeze, everything's still blurry. What's happening with my eyes? Maybe I've got a serious problem that need attending to. Perhaps my glasses need cleaning. I reach up to pull them off and check. Alas, no glasses! I am laughing my way across the parking lot and still chuckling as I enter the building!
Only my friends and family at IHD would understand this moment!

Oh yes I do. I wondered why I couldm't see at all going through a tunnel. Still had my sunglasses on.

My story is when I was at the store and I pulled money out of my pocket and started counting the one dollar bills, I tried four times and would get to 8 or 9 and I would forget where I was at in the count,finally gave the money to the wife to pay the bill.

I had one of those moments in Chicago. Jess21 and her mom were in the back seat and for some reason I said our oldest son's birthday was Nov. 2nd. Well it is Nov. 4th. My husband couldn't believe I didn't know my son's birthday. He kept saying "you don't remember?" Nope, I didn't. I am sick of hearing people say "don't you remember?" If I did, would I be acting so stupid? I hate feeling old and stupid. But I seem to be in very good company :rofl;

my husband and I had to take children to different basketball games one Sat morning
he called me all upset b/c he could not find his glasses
which happens all the time
I gave him this lecture - where I know where mine are
I always put them in the same place every night
my friend, who is now the social worker at the Huntsvillle, Texas Davita unit, asked me when did I get new glasses?
I had on my husband's glasses

:rofl; You must have close to the same prescription as your husband, Twirl.
-
:rofl; I can't tell you the number of times I've driven home with prescription sunglasses on cuz I forgot to take my regular ones. I'm planning to tell the cop man if he pulls me over that I'm a movie star and didn't want to mobbed. :rofl;
-
That would work! You look like a movie star.
-
My problem is that when I forget where I left the glasses, I need a pair of glasses on in order to look for them!
-
I just love when my husband can't find his glasses anywhere and they are on his head.
-
I forget words in conversations, names too of people I have known for years.
-
I can definitely relate to the memory thing........more than forgetting my eyeglasses, but I usually discover them missing when I start to back out the driveway. I also can't remember names of people I worked with for over 30 years. But the worst was just last night when my sister asked me my great-granddaughter's name and I couldn't remember it. I was sure it would come to me within minutes, but didn't recall it until this morning. That not only worried me, but made me feel terrible!

I got up in the middle of the night to let the dogs out (like I do every night) and when I went to disarm the house alarm I just stared at the panel. I couldn't remember the code. It took me a couple of tries, but I finally got it with a code that I was sure wasn't correct. Thankfully it worked and the alarm didn't go off. whew!

I was always calling students their brother or sisters names that I had already had- they got used to it and would answer by their brother or sister's name
God I miss teaching
Chris ---- watch out
you are fixing to get a homework assignment
-
I do this too! I always get siblings of past students since I'm ESL. I called one of my students Michael all year and he corrected me all year, "It's Aaron!" He didn't get too upset when I did it, but any other teacher and he'd yell at them!

I'd be in the middle of a sentence and completely forget what I was talking about. Not a clue. Ugggh, memory loss was probably one of my least favorite side effects of dialysis.

What are we talking about?? Boxman
-
Huh? :rofl; :rofl;
That train left the station quickly without a return ticket!
-
There's a lot of short term memory loss in my business.

Not sure, but it sounds like some pretty good "green leafy" stuff to me :rofl;

I started to inquire as to what business you are in
then I figured it out

Now I understand . . . I was running all over the house looking for my glasses try to go to work yesterday ... finally stopped and said a prayer and found them. Sometimes they're just on my head ... wow I didn't know it could be my kidneys. :urcrazy;
