Well, going in this morning to have my PD catheter removed. The surgeon wanted to give me a local to remove it, but I wanted knocked out and got my wish. Surgery time will be around 11 am (eastern). I am kind of sad PD didn't work, but have to admit, it will be good to have this catheter out, maybe enough summer left to go swimming here at the local pool.

:cuddle; Joe Paul. Hope it all goes well today.
-
I'll be thinking of you JP. I go in this morning to have my permacath out.
-
Hoping all goes well for you! :grouphug;
-
Good luck today, hey at least you gave the pd a try.
-
Good luck for today , shame it didnt work though, still it will be good if you can get to swim again!
-
I feel really sad that PD didn't work for you, Joe Paul. But I hope you get some swimming in. Good luck back on Hemo.
-
here's hoping everything goes smoothly.
-
JP and Monrein - hope all went well today for both of you. :flower;
-
Hope you are both OK and that all went well :grouphug;

Thankyou all, for your well wishes. I ran into a problem during surgery, my blood sugar dropped to 40, and they could not get it back up, so they stopped the surgery until my sugar level got up. I do not understand why it dropped like it did, and as fast as it did - because I didn't take any insulin since supper last night. I guess that will remain a mystery, at least I am home now(just got here), and the catheter is gone. Thanks again for your well wishes, much appreciated :thumbup;
Monrein, hope all went well today for you.
-
Hope you start feeling better JP :grouphug;

JP, I'm so sorry you had the blood sugar drop like that on you. Glad you're home now and catheter free.
My removal went well. A little local, five to ten minutes in all and off I went, tubeless again. The only scary thing was the youth of my doctor. He looked as though he might be starting high school next year and I wanted to ask him if his mother knew that he was spending his summer hanging out in a hospital with all those germs.
Tomorrow I use all the hot water in this house.
JP, I hope you get to go swimming soon enough.
-
Monrein, glad things went well. Young Doctors scare me too, makes me feel like I am part of a learning curve :lol;
-
Joe Paul and monrein. Len always said he felt like a training dummy. I actually asked his GI doctor to see his license (he looked 12) and I was shocked to find out he was 34. I'm glad both of you are home and JP, watch your sugar tonight (IV saline) and monrein, don't use all the hot water up. :cuddle;
-
I am glad to hear that everyone survived the day, even the doctors in training!
-
Hope everything went smoothly.
-
JP, sorry I missed the thread originally, also sorry PD didn't work out for you. :cuddle; Have you gone swimming yet?
Monrein, I think I took three showers a day for a week when my last permcath came out...has your hot water recovered?
-
OMG...what does a shower feel like?????
-
Have you gone swimming yet?
No KT, that will be at least another week from what I understand. I was told I could get into the tub after a week, so I think it will be OK to go in the pool too. Of course its been mid 70's here, probably freeze my buns off anyways :lol;
