Title: Hello
Post by: funnygarcia on August 06, 2008, 02:19:40 PM
Hello, I'm Bernice.
My husband was diagnosed 12 years ago; center based dialysis off and on, with a transplant (I was his donor) that happily lasted for 3 years.

We have just completed home based (short daily) training with Davita and have been at home now for 2 weeks.
He loves not going to a center, I love having him happy and feeling great! :yahoo;

We have two boys in that ohhh so interesting teenage phase.
Just moved back to Minnesota from southern California, we missed our family and didn't feel like we were "home". We call it our year of adventure, similar to a very long vacation.. gotta go back to routine sometime.

Hubby does most of his dialysis by himself, I am just the extra set of hands to grab more tape/adjust a fan/find the remote/spin labs.
He cherishes his independence.
He is a middle school science teacher, graduated 2007 -- looking for a job this year.
I teach preschoolers, occasionally do product demos, and love being mom/wife/partner.  I am the chatty online person.. hubby is not into message boards but will read over my shoulder and offer remarks to add.

hmmm.. what else? I like to laugh and joke, terrible at typing, always willing to lend an ear/hand and help out. Very addicted to all things Disney (part of why we moved to CA was to be close to Disneyland-- yes I know, we are odd people), love reading and learning. And we have a polydactyl cat (she has extra toes) that we named Poly.

There you have it.. my lifestory plastered here.  ;D

 :welcomesign; Bernice.  You've found the best, bar none, dialysis forum on the web and we have the nicest, most caring members also.  Your husband sounds lucky to have you as his helper and also to have had your kidney for a while, sorry it wasn't longer.  Post often with your questions and of course with your wisdom and I look forward to getting to know you.

Bernice, welcome home!  You are going to fit right in here!   This is a wonderful, caring group and there is more information here than at any doctor's office.  I think we can learn a lot from you, too.   Glad you found us :2thumbsup;

Welcome from another Southern Californian. Where are you located?  I love Disney stuff. I used to collect the Disney dogs.  I had over 500 in my collections and let them go after an earthquake rattled the house.  I still love to look. Welcome to the site!
