Title: petitioners and pamphlets
Post by: ODAT on July 25, 2008, 01:25:28 PM
Standing in the long line waiting to get into the concert yesterday, there were lots of people handing out pamphlets and asking you to sign petitions. Mostly for animal cruelty. I got annoyed with one of the petitioners. While I signed, the woman didn't know the kid behind me was my son. He shook his head no. And she persisted and said, 'it only takes a second.' I told him 'you don't have to sign that.' What I really wanted to say is, 'don't pressure a teenager when he really might not understand.'

The pamphlets were very disturbing and graphic which is the 'shock' factor - on animal cruelty. How they house pigs and chickens. Telling you it's okay if you eat meat, but stand up for the way the animals are tended. Yes, awareness is a responsible thing and I agree that they do not treat most animals in a way animals are supposed to live. Penned up for their whole life is disturbing.

I told my son that I was going to start my own cause - littering! Those teenagers just tossed those pamphlets on the ground once the person walked away. About 30 min later my son pointed to a woman that was picking up those discarded papers. Yay.
